Friary Park homeowners delighted with government inquiry's findings

by isleofman.com 24th December 2014
Friary Park residents are delighted their homes have been given a clean bill of health by a government report.
Owners of the concrete panel Cambar-style properties, which were built in the 1970s, watched their value fall earlier this year, when it emerged some banks were reluctant to lend on them.
That view was based on UK building industry guidance from 2002 which said they had a short lifespan.
But when a Manx government inquiry looked into the matter that was found to not apply to the Cambar properties built in the Isle of Man.
David Crowley is one of the homeowners who formed an action group to push for the investigation.
He agrees with Castletown MHK Richard Ronan, who headed the inquiry, that the news is a great Christmas present for the residents:Clip 1
