Opportunist thief strikes on Christmas Day

by isleofman.com 27th December 2014

Detectives in Douglas are appealing for help in tracking down a thief who struck on Christmas Day, robbing a family of their presents.
In what officers have described as a heartless crime, an intruder snuck into a house on Primrose Avenue through the back door while the family slept, late on Thursday.
A games console, laptop computer and cash were taken.
CID officers are appealing to the conscience of the Manx public for help in catching the person responsible.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the stolen PlayStation 4 or the white HP Pavilion laptop, is asked to contact police headquarters on 631212.
Officers say if you are offered either of the items for sale, be suspicious of where they've come from and contact police.
DC Cannell commented: “Unfortunately burglaries on the Island are on the rise and whilst the Police are doing all they can to catch those responsible, it serves as a stark reminder to the public to be vigilant with their property, ensuring doors are locked and minimising the chance of becoming a victim.”
