Boost for Hospice IOM thanks to Appleby fundraisers

by isleofman.com 29th December 2014

More than ?1,800 has been donated to Hospice Isle of Man thanks to the fundraising efforts of Appleby staff in the Isle of Man.

Mary Doyle from the charity visited the Athol Street office to receive the donation shortly before Christmas.

The money was raised by Mark Davison, Joseph Mawson, Lorcan O’ Mahony and Matt Wilshaw during ‘Movember’, when people grow a moustache in November and collect cash for charity. The four raised ?907, which was matched pound-for-pound by the Partners and Appleby Charity Committee to bring the final total to ?1,814.

Lorcan, a trainee advocate at Appleby Isle of Man, said: ‘I’d like to thank everyone who encouraged us and donated from the very bottom of my heart. It’s a tight time of year for money, but the response has been overwhelming.

‘The work Hospice does is invaluable, and having had family experience with hospice care recently, knowing this much money is going to help those in need of specialist care is a very special thing indeed.’

Hospice Isle of Man PR and Marketing Manager Mary said she was thrilled with the amount raised and congratulated Mark, Joseph, Lorcan and Matt on their ‘lovely moustaches’.
