Police rescue handcuffed man from harbour

by isleofman.com 5th January 2015
Two police officers in the north of the Island are being praised for their bravery and quick thinking.
They rescued a man who had jumped into Ramsey harbour on Saturday morning after being arrested and handcuffed.
It happened at around 11.50am.
Pc Saskia Baxter jumped into the water and swam out to the man, while Pc Mark Kerruish went in with a lifebelt and rope.
Both managed to get him safely ashore, after which he was taken to Noble's hospital for treatment.
Sergeant Vinny Lund says without the bravery and quick thinking of both officers involved in the rescue, the outcome may been very different.
He's also asking anyone who saw what happened, or helped the officers to contact Ramsey police station on 812234.
