Work starts at Blackboards

by isleofman.com 6th January 2015

Work is due to get under way today on a scheme to strengthen Blackboards bridge on the Castletown Road.

Highways authorities say the work will take three weeks to complete, with traffic lights in operation 24 hours a day.

Highways MHK John Houghton said: 'This strengthening work is required to ensure the bridge is suitable for the size and volume of vehicles using the route. Our staff will be working beneath the bridge, so people will not see a great deal of activity at road level other than the beams and materials being lifted into place.'

Motorists have been asked to allow more time for journeys until the scheme is completed.
