Manx Cancer Help recruiting volunteers

by isleofman.com 9th January 2015

Why not make 2015 your year to volunteer with Manx Cancer Help?

On Saturday 24th January the prominent local charity will be holding an open day at its base, the Lisa Lowe Centre in Tromode, for anyone considering becoming part of the team.

As well as helping out at events organised by Manx Cancer Help’s fundraising team, you could also arrange your own. In the last year, the charity has benefitted from help with bucket collections, bag packing and dog walking as well as assistance with its annual ball.

Chief Executive Officer, Andrea Chambers, said: ‘Because the treatment of cancer is becoming more effective, more people in the Island are living with cancer, which means we are seeing and supporting an increasing number whose lives have been affected by a diagnosis.

‘We never want to find ourselves in a position where we aren’t able cope with demand, and as we are self-funded, we rely on our local community, businesses and individuals. Manx Cancer Help prides itself on having a fabulous friendly team and we invite you to become part of it.’

The open day will take place between 11am and 3pm, for people of all ages, and will include an informal chat over tea, coffee and cake.
