More bad weather on the way

by isleofman.com 9th January 2015
Poor weather in the Irish Sea could mean more disruption to ferry services as the Met Office warns of gale-force winds later this evening and tonight.

The Steam Packet Company says its Douglas to Heysham 7.45pm sailing may be delayed or cancelled, as may the Ben my Chree’s return trip at 2.15am tomorrow morning.

Also under threat are Saturday's sailings to and from Birkenhead.

Decisions on those sailings are expected at 5pm.

No newspapers will arrive on the Island today, but Shoprite says food supplies to its stores are secure.

The gales have also prompted the Manx Utilities Authority to issue its own reminder about power lines.

The Electricity Network Services Control Room says falling trees and airborne debris can bring lines down - if you find your power’s out you should contact the MUA on 687687.

The authority says knowing where power outages are lets it send staff to start repairs more quickly.
