Fancy a night at the pig races?

by isleofman.com 12th January 2015

Later this month, the Manx Wildlife Trust, the Island’s leading nature conservation charity, is holding a fundraising evening with a difference – A Night at the Pig Races!  Why not come along and cheer home the bacon?

This racing extravaganza, comprising a fluffy mechanical flock of eight racing hopefuls competing in six races, will be taking place at 7.30pm on Friday, 30 January 2015 at Vagabonds Rugby Club, Ballafletcher Road, Braddan.

Betting will be run on the tote system with each bet costing ?1.00.  Guests will receive a race card at the start of the event and winnings will be in proportion with the value of bets placed.  You can sponsor and name a race at a minimum cost of ?25.00, own and name a pig at a cost of ?5.00 or be a trainer (?3.00) or a jockey (?2.00) – prizes available for all winners.

This promises to be a fun evening and a great opportunity to raise funds for the Trust whilst enjoying the company of friends.  Advance booking is essential - tickets are just ?12.50 and include a tasty supper; fully licensed bar facilities will also be available.  Ticket enquiries may be made by email to Clare Bryan at cjbryan@manx.net or by calling 878266.  The promoter of this event is the Trust’s Director, Duncan Bridges and the minimum age to place bets is 16 years.
