Landlords 'vindicated' by report's conclusion

by isleofman.com 14th January 2015
Landlords in the Island say their opposition to a bill designed to improve standards in private rented accommodation has been vindicated.
A Tynwald committee says the Landlord and Tenant (Private Housing) Bill needs redrafting from top to bottom, branding parts of it 'unintelligible'.
Their report says any new laws should cover basic standards for the behaviour of tenants, including paying the rent on time and not damaging the property or its contents.
It also says a redrafted bill should apply to all tenancies, including public sector and agricultural tenancies.
The House of Keys will consider the report later this month.
Spokesman for the Manx Landlords Association Stephen Moore says the committee has listened to all their main concerns:Clip 1
