An information day is being held on Friday 23rd January in Douglas, with the aim of raising awareness of the services available for older members of the community and their carers, in the east of the Island.
Organised by the Department of Health and Social Care, ‘Supporting Older People in Mann’ takes place at the Manx Legion Club, Market Hill between 10.00am and 3.30pm, and will feature a broad cross section of care providers and associated agencies.
Following on from successful similar events across the Island, the day aims to bring information, advice, support and expertise together at one venue, with over 20 organisations attending, including representatives from Treasury, Community Social Workers, Live at Home Scheme, Manx Retirement Association and Crossroads Care.
David Quirk MHK, Member for Adult Social Care Services, said:
“This information day highlights the many services and organisations which work together with the Department to support and protect older people on our Island. By promoting the services available we can help empower more of our older people and their carers to make choices that suit their individual needs and assist them to continue to lead fulfilling independent lives. I would encourage anyone who feels they may benefit to come along and find out more.”
Free tea and coffee will be provided by the Manx Legion Club and all proceeds from a raffle will be divided between the Club and Douglas Live at Home Scheme.
