2015 Holocaust Memorial Service

by isleofman.com 16th January 2015
Every year on the 27th January the world marks Holocaust Memorial Day.  Holocaust Memorial Day provides an opportunity for everyone to learn lessons from the Holocaust, Nazi persecution and subsequent genocides and apply them to the present day to create a safer, better future.  On HMD we share the memory of the millions who have been murdered in the Holocaust and subsequent genocides in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur in order to challenge hatred and persecution in the world today.

The theme this year is ‘Keeping the Memory Alive’ and we shall be commemorating the 70th anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi death camp Auschwitz-Birkenau which took place on January 27th 1945.

The Isle of Man National Holocaust Memorial Day Service 2015 will be held at St Ninian’s Church,  Douglas on Sunday January 25th 2015 at 3pm.  People of all faiths and no faith are welcome to attend and the organisers request that everyone be in their seats by 2.45pm.
