Long-running charity initiative boosts funds for Island Cancer Association

by isleofman.com 19th January 2015

The Isle of Man Anti-Cancer Association has been presented with the latest funds raised by Appleby as part of a long-established charity initiative.

For the past 12 years, partners and staff at Appleby’s Isle of Man office have made donations to a local charity in lieu of sending each other Christmas cards. This year the money was raised for the Isle of Man Anti-Cancer Association.

The money raised was matched pound-for-pound by Appleby’s Charitable Foundation, bringing the total to ?755.58.

Kate Shimmin, a Legal Secretary in the Corporate department of Appleby’s Isle of Man office, has organised the collection every year since 2002.

She said: ‘I’m delighted with the sum we have raised, which will assist the Isle of Man Anti-Cancer Association to continue its important work here in the Island. Since we started donating to charity instead of sending Christmas cards to each other, the money raised and number of people taking part has just grown and grown.

‘I’d like to thank everyone who got involved, and the Charitable Foundation for doubling the amount we had raised.’
