Charity takes stand over waste disposal charges

by isleofman.com 19th January 2015
A Manx charity could be banned from using the Douglas civic amenity site - if it doesn't pay a bill for leaving waste.
Crossroads Care wants a meeting with the authority running the site to discuss the impact disposal charges will have on the organisation - but has been turned down.
The charity has been taking unsaleable furniture from its Windsor Road shop to the facility, leaving much of it in the recycling sheds.
The joint committee for the eastern civic amenity says its per-ton charges don't cover the whole cost of disposal and Crossroads is the only charity not settling invoices.
