Police working 'flat out' on burglaries

by isleofman.com 21st January 2015

Homes in Barrule Park, Ramsey, were targeted in the latest in the ongoing spate of burglaries.

Police say the culprits got away with jewellery from two houses. It's thought the burglaries happened during the day yesterday (Tuesday). Forensic teams are examining the scenes.

Police are responding to reports of activity overnight. Yesterday, 120 incidents were logged, compared against 37 for the same day last year.

Inspector Derek Flint said: 'We really are working flat out to catch those responsible. Officers are working very long hours, and are determined to bring this spate of crime to an end. Contrary to speculation, we haven’t brought in any officers from the UK. This is being managed within our own resources.

'Today, we need to issue the same reminder for vigilance, especially by those people that may be at home. Please keep an eye out in your street for anything that doesn’t quite fit. Ring us straight away on 631212, or for more urgent issues use the 999 system. We’ve patrols on the ground ready to respond.'
