Hospice Isle of Man’s trading arm, Hospice Shops continues to be a major asset to the charity, having raised a huge financial contribution over its 26 years of trading. Just one of their terrific initiatives has been the recent pop up shop in Strand Street, Douglas.
The shop opened for business on 1st November 2014 and popped out on 3rd January 2015 raising the fantastic amount of ?35,000 in this short period.
Shops manager, Judith Leslie thanked everyone that donated to the boutique as the shop’s main retail products were designer and brand new items so donations of this level were very important for the boutique. She also thanked her team of volunteers who worked so hard to keep everything looking wonderful.
Judith added: “Every item donated to Hospice shops is really appreciated so over this period everyone worked so hard to keep the boutique stocked.”
“Naturally I am grateful for all donations and to all volunteers that man our 6 shops day in, day out – we are a team and everyone’s contribution is gratefully received.”
She continued: “Charity shops are evolving and developing so much – we are now into a very exciting phase of Retro, vintage, upcycling etc and thrive as being part of this ‘green’ way of working.”
She asks the Manx public to check out their local Hospice shop and be surprised at what they find!
There really is something for everyone!
"We have popped out of Strand Street in Douglas for the time being but have just refurbished our Castletown shop which is now our new boutique! There are some lovely items on sale. Why not visit the Arbory Street shop down south to see what they have on offer – their opening hours are Monday to Saturday 10am-4pm."
To contact Hospice Shops to arrange collection please ring 615055 or drop your items into any of the Hospice collection receptacles or shops around the Island.
Judith used the opportunity to remind the public that with the introduction of charges at the Civic Amenity Site in Douglas it is really important that Hospice shops only collect items that can be sold.
