Planning price hike to pay for adverts

by isleofman.com 22nd January 2015
Reintroducing newspaper adverts for planning applications will mean a sharp increase in the cost of applying for planning permission.

So says Infrastructure Department member with responsibility for planning Chris Thomas MHK.

Last July the department said it would save ?40,000 a year by scrapping the ads.

Mr Thomas says fee increases will be brought in, based on the size of the development – the bigger it is, the more it’ll cost.

And he says the price hike, thought to be well above inflation, is needed to pay Isle of Man Newspapers for the adverts:Clip 1
