Chief Minister urged to attend PO meeting

by isleofman.com 26th January 2015

Ramsey Commissioners' chairman Nigel Malpass is calling for any decision over the future of the town's Post Office branch to be put back for 12 months.

He says this would allow for a 'workable business plan' to be put before the Post Office board. He has called on the town's MHK and Chief Minister Allan Bell to attend the public meeting being held this Thursday evening.

In an open letter, Mr Malpass writes: 'No-one doubts the need for balancing the books but the move from the courthouse to the Spar is seen as removing a public service into a commercial function...The time needed to seek alternative solutions with the need to identify adequate premises and probably apply for a change of planning use or maybe submit a sustainable business plan to a bank for initial cash flow funding demonstrates that March is totally unrealistic of the members truly want to seek what better option can be sought.'
