Mayor provides solution to primary school’s bottled up demand for recycling

by isleofman.com 26th January 2015

Douglas Mayor Stan Cain has presented Cronk y Berry School with two recycling bins for plastic bottles as part of a Council initiative to raise children’s awareness of the importance to dispose of waste items responsibly.

Together with the Council’s assistant waste services manager Paul Gray and technical assistant Jeanette Edwards he made the presentation during a science week at the school, telling his young audience: ‘Douglas Borough Council has made a commitment to encouraging and promoting recycling in the borough. As the adults of tomorrow it is important that you are given the right information that will allow you to make decisions and encourage the adults of today to provide the Island with a sustainable future.’

Mr Gray said Cronk y Berry was the first primary school in the island to be presented with the recycling bins and that such was the school’s commitment to recycling it would be receiving extra bins for plastic bottles, also bins for aluminium cans.
