Blanket coverage: Sefton Hotel ‘gets into bed’ with local good causes

by isleofman.com 29th January 2015

Two local good causes are set to benefit after the Sefton Hotel refurbished a number of its guest rooms.

The Sefton Group’s marketing manager Nicola Wilkinson explained: ‘We recently gave some of the bedrooms a light refresh, replacing blankets with duvets and introducing some new decorative fittings.

‘All these items were still serviceable so, as a group committed to “Reduce. Reuse. Recycle.”, we decided to donate the blankets to the ManxSPCA to provide bedding for the animals in their care and the fittings to Crossroads Care to add to the stock in their charity shops.’

ManxSPCA’s Margaret Mansfield said: ‘The ManxSPCA is delighted to have the support of staff and management at the Sefton Hotel who have donated unwanted blankets to the society.

‘These will be used to provide much-needed bedding for the ever-increasing number of animals coming in to Ard Jerkyll. They can be confused and unhappy and the security of a soft, warm bed helps them to settle down while we rehabilitate them and find loving homes where they can live without fear.

‘As well as helping the ManxSPCA the Sefton Group is behaving in a responsible fashion by taking this environmentally friendly approach and recycling the blankets to a charity in need of help rather than simply discarding them. We are very grateful for their consideration at a time when funding is difficult to find and there is a greater demand for our services. Thanks to everyone for their kindness and for thinking of the ManxSPCA.’

Crossroads Care’s charity shops coordinator Imogen Birchall said:  ‘I am delighted with the generous donation from the Sefton Hotel. All funds raised through Crossroads’ charity shops goes towards enabling Crossroads Care to continue its work in the community.  Crossroads Care is the leading provider of practical and emotional support for carers living in the Isle of Man. Our service is about giving time, improving the lives of carers by providing an opportunity for them to be themselves and have a break from caring.’

Nicola Wilkinson added: ‘We are pleased to have been able to offer practical support to two such good causes and, as the Island’s leading hotel group, we hope that the bedding is enjoyed by the “guests” of the ManxSPCA.’
