Ballure level crossing works to close road this weekend

by isleofman.com 29th January 2015
The Ramsey coast road is scheduled to be closed to all traffic this weekend to enable new railway lines to be installed at Ballure crossing.

Isle of Man Transport apologises to motorists and bus passengers for any inconvenience.

Subject to weather conditions the road will be closed from 8am on Saturday 31 January 2015 until 6pm on Sunday 1 February 2015. In the event of bad weather the works will be carried out the following weekend.

The ?1.2 million project to carry out significant repairs and refurbishment on the 52 metre long bridge at Ballure commenced in November. Around 75% of steelwork repairs have been completed while the whole structure has been cleaned by grit blasting and painted with primer. Painting of the top coat has commenced to the upper deck area of the bridge.  New foundations have been laid for the tracks that will cross the main road at Ballure and the road closure this weekend is needed to ensure these essential works can progress.

Details of bus service changes can be found below and in a special timetable for 3 and 3A services available on our website. Please also be aware of additional bus diversions and cancellations on Saturday (31 January 2015) while the Chris Kelly Memorial Rally is staged in the north of the Island.
