Ramsey Crown Post Office proposed closure: update

by isleofman.com 2nd February 2015

The government’s proposed closure of the Ramsey Crown Post Office prompted more than 150 people to attend the second public meeting on the matter at Ramsey Grammar School on Thursday January 29th.

The meeting was chaired by Ramsey Town Commissioners’ chairman Captain Nigel Malpass who read out letters from Chief Minister Allan Bell MHK, Leonard Singer MHK and Isle of Man Post Office CEO Mike Kelly.

Captain Malpass said: ‘It was unfortunate that Mr Bell, Mr Singer and Mr Kelly could not attend. I am, however, grateful that they took the time to express their views in writing. The content of their letters, understandably, prompted lively discussion during the meeting which, once again, demonstrated the strength of feeling and community that has distinguished this issue from day one.

‘There will be no overnight solution and we shall continue to make representations to government and the Isle of Man Post Office.’

All three correspondents wished for their communications to be made available to as wide an audience as possible. In response Ramsey Town Commissioners have posted the letters on their website, www.ramsey.gov.im.
