A quartet of colleagues at Scottish Widows have raised awareness, a few eyebrows, and funds by taking part in Movember, the campaign for men affected by prostate cancer, testicular cancer or mental health problems.
David Butler, Andrew England, Chris Neill and Michael Penton opted for a change in their grooming routines for the 30 days of November, by growing moustaches.
With matched funding from the Lloyds Banking Group, of which Scottish Widows is part, they raised ?354.
The four were supported in their efforts by their colleagues, some of them releasing their inner Mary Berry/Paul Hollywood and arranging cake bake sales and raffles.
Scottish Widows’ managing director Juan Clarke said: ‘Andrew, Chris, Dave and Michael are to be congratulated on embracing Movember so enthusiastically, as are their colleagues for their support. The campaign was great fun but behind it was a serious message about encouraging men to be more aware of their health issues and take early preventative action.
‘The Lloyds Banking Group regularly gets behind causes that have the potential to transform lives. It was for this reason we were pleased to offer matched funding in support of the Movember Foundation’s men’s health programmes…and, of course, to recognise our four mustachioed colleagues’ new, albeit short-lived, looks.’
