Concern for birds' welfare after aviary attacked

by isleofman.com 2nd February 2015
There’s concern for two birds this morning (Monday) after an aviary in Greeba was targeted.

A male and female Goshawk were released into the wild after someone used a cutting tool to clip away sections of the aviary sometime between Saturday teatime and yesterday (Sunday) afternoon.

The owner is fearful the female Goshawk, in particular, will not be able to sufficiently care for herself.

She’s coloured blue and grey on her back with a white and light grey horizontally barred breast.

She also has blue and dark grey horizontal barring across her tail with a very small white tip to her tail feathers.

The male Goshawk is light blue and grey on his back with light white and grey horizontal barring across his chest.

He has darker horizontal barring across his tail with a tiny white tip on his tail feathers.

Police would like to speak to anyone who saw what happened or knows the person responsible – specifically anyone who was on the disused Railway line in Greeba at around five o’clock on Saturday afternoon.

The number to call PC Crompton at Peel police station on 631554.
