Superstar Sam to name yacht

by isleofman.com 2nd February 2015

Laxey-born Sam Barks will be helping to officially name a new boat for Sailing for the Disabled next week.

She will be at the pontoon in Douglas at 1.30pm on Wednesday February 11 to say a few words, name the Pride of Mann III and have a short sail on her.

A spokesman for Sailing for the Disabled said: 'Everyone is welcome to come down to see the ceremony. Sam launched the new Manx ship, the Caly Manx, a 58,000 ton bulk carrier, in Shanghai in 2009 so naming our little yacht will be a walk in the park for her!'

Sam rose to fame in the TV talent show “I’d do anything” in 2008 and has appeared in films and musicals including the Hollywood version of Les Miserables alongside Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway and Eddie Redmayne.
