Wellbeing plan for the Isle of Man

by isleofman.com 3rd February 2015

Health Minister Howard Quayle says a mental health and wellbeing strategic plan for the island will go out to public consultation next month.

Replying to a House of Keys question from Onchan member Peter Karran, Mr Quayle said the plan aims to facilitate positive changes in attitudes, understanding, support and treatment options.

Mr Karran had asked what progress had been made in implementing the recommendations of a suicide audit completed in 2007. Mr Quayle said there were concerns regarding the validity of some of the audit. He said the new framework included a suicide prevention strategy, adding: 'My department fully recognises the importance of the development and implementation of a suicide prevention strategy and in anticipation of the launch of the Mental Health & Wellbeing Plan a document has been drafted.'
