Ramsey Town Commissioners: a ‘likeable’ local authority

by isleofman.com 4th February 2015

It’s official. Ramsey Town Commissioners is a ‘likeable’ local authority; its Facebook page has passed the 500 likes mark.

Since going live late last year the page has generated a wide following of visitors, attracted by the mix of news, local information and nostalgia items.

Ramsey Town Commissioners’ chairman Captain Nigel Malpass said: ‘We’ve been delighted with the response to our Facebook page. The number of individual items “liked” demonstrates yet again the strong sense of community which makes Ramsey the special town it is. Importantly, though, the page is a vital additional channel of communication through which we can connect with that community instantly, so can be especially useful for issuing weather warnings and hosting alerts from Isle of Man Constabulary, for example. It’s also a means of supporting and giving a voice to the many volunteer and community groups in Ramsey, and is the perfect complement to our website, ramsey.gov.im.

‘These are early days for our entree into social media so we would welcome ideas for how we can develop our Facebook presence and serve the community even better. Already, though, the page is nothing if not varied in its content - from road closures to Ramsey-reared pork, so do please log on and like us.’
