End of an era for the Mount Murray

After more than 20 years as one of the Island’s premier hotels, the Mount Murray in Santon, is to close its doors for good today (6 Feb).
Fifteen months on from a major fire which destroyed the majority of the complex, bosses have decided to shut the hotel and leisure club.



It was revealed last week the insurance settlement will not be sufficient to pay for a rebuild.



Although the golf club will remain open, more than 30 jobs will be lost and efforts are continuing to try and find new investors.





For those living in the surrounding estate, the impact will be more than just having a burned-down 'eye-sore' opposite their home.
