No need to be sheepish about visiting the Family Library this half term

by isleofman.com 6th February 2015

There’s no need to be sheepish about paying a visit to the Family Library this half term holiday.

The Chinese New Year starts this month and 2015 is the Year of the Sheep. The library, next to the children’s playground in Westmoreland Road, Douglas, has lined up a series of activities to celebrate the start of the Chinese New Year and is also marking the arrival of the new film to hit cinemas: Shaun the Sheep Movie.

Librarian in charge Mary Cousins said: ‘The Chinese New Year starts officially on February 19, so the half term holiday is the perfect time to prepare for celebrations.

‘As 2015 is the Year of the Sheep, we thought it was only right that we should also celebrate the Shaun the Sheep Movie!’

There will be lots of Shaun the Sheep activities throughout the week, culminating in a great prize draw for all the family on the Friday, February 13.

Tuesday, February 8, sees the chance to have a go at Chinese New Year dragon masks. It will cost ?1 to take part.

On Wednesday, there will be the chance to make Chinese New Year decorations for ?2.

Thursday, from 1.30pm to 3.30pm, sees Shaun the Sheep craft, for ?1.

Friday will have the regular Storybox sitting at 10.30am, plus drop-in colouring all day long.

Saturday, February 14, sees a Valentine’s Day special for the regular Stickyfingers session between 10.30am and midday. Participants will get the chance to make a Valentine gift bag. It costs ?2.50 to take part.

In addition, there are drop-in activities all week and free board games, plus the usual library service.
