Saturday beach cleaning at The Lhen

by isleofman.com 6th February 2015

Beach Buddies will be holding a beach cleaning session on Saturday morning at 10.30am at The Lhen.

Our request for information about the condition of beaches has drawn a very good response, and it appears that the stretch from The Lhen south towards Sartfield is in need of a "going over", so that's where we're going!

The weather forecast appears to be OK, and not so cold as recently. We will have McDonalds vouchers for hot drinks to give to all volunteers. The session, as normal, lasts no more than 90 minutes or so, and we provide all the equipment necessary, including litter pickers, bin bags and gloves.

New volunteers are always very warmly welcomed, and we have already had a good number of new people - especially families with small children - joining us so far this year, and they all enjoyed themselves and said they wanted to come back!

We will remove the rubbish collected afterwards, using the Sandy B trailer, and the AFD Software truck, and we will recycle where possible.

Sponsors who very generously keep us going include AFD Software, SITA, WDS Limited, the Department of Infrastructure, The Scott Trust, the Elizabeth Clucas Trust, the Society for the Preservation of the Manx Countryside, Blythe Financial, Aston International, Charlie’s Mum and Dad, Zero Waste Mann, Andy Kerruish, Lloyds Bank, Bobby Sadler Agricultural, Santander, Douglas Rotary, Cains and Juan Knight OffRoad.
