Service remembers popular farmer and journalist

One of the best loved figures in Manx farming and one of the Island’s best known personalities has been remembered on Friday afternoon.

A service of celebration was held for Harvey Briggs at St Peter’s Church in Onchan.

The respected farmer, journalist and Captain of the Parish of Onchan farmed at Ballakilmartin in Onchan for more than half a century.

In an interview with Manx Radio, Mr Briggs - who passed away last week aged 94 - recalled working for the former Manx Herald newspaper editor Ross Gaggs:
