Artists of all different disciplines, art forms, ages, backgrounds and experience are invited to apply to take part in the Jersey Arts Trust Inter-Island Artist Lock-in project.
In June 2015, Jersey will host the 16th NatWest Island Games. To mirror the inclusive and cooperative ethos of the Island Games, artists from each of the participating Islands will come together to create a shared work for public display.
Isle of Man Arts Council invites local artists to apply to represent the Isle of Man. Contact the Arts Council secretary Jan Cowan on Tel: 694596 for an application form which should be completed and returned, together with a one page CV and statement by Monday 2 March.
From the applications the Isle of Man Arts Council will put forward three artists from varying disciplines with a range of experience for selection. The Jersey Arts Trust will choose one participant from each Island.
Mr Geoff Corkish MBE MLC, Chairman of the Isle of Man Arts Council said: “Being chosen as the Island’s representative, the successful local artist will help the Isle of Man form closer international ties with the nations that compete in the Island Games, by fostering a spirit of creativity and cooperation during the project. The Isle of Man Arts Council and the Jersey Arts Council will support the chosen artist with expenses.”
The Inter-Island Artist Lock-in project ‘An Island off an Island’ takes place between 22 June and 2 July at Elizabeth Castle in Jersey. Elizabeth Castle with its diverse structures and landscape is cut off from mainland Jersey for up to 12 hours a day by the tide.
The project will be facilitated by Sue Hill, Associate Director of Wildworks Theatre Company supported by Jersey performer and producer Francesca Duncan.
