Tynwald approves spending on new adult learning disability unit

by isleofman.com 18th February 2015
A ten-bedroom facility for adults with learning disabilities has been given the green light by Tynwald.
Members have approved spending ?1.3 million on building a new unit on the Leece Lodge site in Braddan.
It will replace out of date accommodation at Radcliffe Villas on Glencrutchery Road in Douglas.
Health Minister Howard Quayle today told Tynwald the building no longer met current standards and would be used solely for respite care.
Adults who currently live at Radcliffe Villas include people with highly complex needs and Mr Quayle said the move to Leece Lodge would help them enjoy independent living.
