The Manx Dyslexia Association (MDA) has announced a number of special Dyslexia Surgeries at schools around the Island.
The surgeries are aimed at teachers and parents, as well as special educational needs coordinators and learning support assistants. In fact everybody who is concerned with or affected by dyslexia.
They are led by Dr Joyce Monroe, an Educational Psychologist, and Sue Rutter, Chairman of the Manx Dyslexia Association, and cover all aspects of dyslexia, answering specific questions about this often misunderstood topic.
The sessions will take place between 1.00 pm and 5.00 pm at the schools below. There will be a possible 12 appointment slots each afternoon, each slot lasting for approximately 40 minutes.

Tuesday, 17.03.15, St Ninian’s Lower School
Monday, 16.03.15, Braddan Primary School
The sessions are open to parents and teachers from ALL schools on the Island.
Dr Joyce Monroe commented:
“If parents are concerned about a school-aged child, we find that these surgeries work best if his or her teacher is also invited to the surgery, so that we can have a joint problem-solving session. In our experience of previous surgeries, the sessions that have involved both parents and teachers have had the most successful outcomes.”
