Radical options to preserve NI fund on the table

Preserving the Island's National Insurance fund for future generations will require major change - and it won't be popular.
That stark message has been outlined to Manx audiences this week by Treasury Minister Eddie Teare at a series of public meetings.
Top of the agenda - the future of the cherished welfare state.
Proposals such as longer working to qualify for the state pension and a cap on benefits have been put forward as realistic options.
Ending the Isle of Man's reciprocal NI agreement with the UK is also a possibility.
Kevin Cowley is tax partner at Douglas-based accountancy firm PwC.
He says unravelling the agreement may be necessary but would come at a cost: Clip 1
