Support shown by community as charity targeted by vandals

by isleofman.com 21st January 2016
Local charity, Beach Buddies, have found themselves the victim of vandals twice this week.

On their Facebook page on Tuesday, 19th January, they revealed that the waste bin located at Port Soderick had been set fire to.

"We deliberately chose to have steel bins, because of the risk of this happening. They cost a lot more, and a normal bin would have been totally destroyed, so it's well worth paying the extra.

"Some damage was caused to the bin's resin lid, but it looks like these fools may have been disturbed before they could totally ruin it. If anyone sees anything like this anywhere please inform the police immediately."

Sadly, another post yesterday revealed that the same bin had been targeted again. This time the bin was untied from its postition and thrown over a fence down into the river.

Comments on Manx.net's social media expressed their disgust at the vandalism and showed their support for the charity:

"Keep up the good work and thanks from someone who cares."

"Please don't allow this to deter you from your wonderful work."

"Keep up the good work. Don't be put off by idiots"
