Manx Labour Party slams 'tick-box' exercise

The Manx Labour Party believes fit for work assessments are nothing more than a tick-box exercise to reduce budgets.

A statement says little account is taken of vulnerable people and mental health issues.

Anyone claiming invalidity benefit is undergoing a test by UK agency Dependability to decide whether they should seek employment.

Manx Labour Party Chairman David Cretney says a number of startling cases were discussed at a recent meeting.

He says doctors are far more qualified to decide whether someone is fit to work rather than non-medical people working within an agency or the Health Department:-
