MICTA Bus Feed Competition submission date looms..

by isleofman.com 11th February 2016
There is only a few more days left before entries close for the MICTA Bus Feed Competition. Proposals for the competition need to be submitted by Monday 15th February and will be judged on how they will benefit the public, how they intend to generate income (if any) and how the solution will be delivered.

This is the first time a competition of this type has been held in the Isle of Man and it’s a unique opportunity for local companies, individuals and students to showcase their abilities. A number of applications and websites could be created from this feed, including visualizations of where the buses are, applications that tell you when the next bus will arrive and even apps that can let a parent know when the school bus arrives at or leaves school.

A number of prizes including a ?2,000 cash prize is up for grabs. The contest is open to all ideas, though preference will be given to apps that benefit the Manx public, are free and work on a variety of platforms.

Kurt Roosen, Chief Executive of MICTA said: "This is an opportunity for application developers on the island to show their creativity and capability. We hope this will be the start of an increasing number of innovative items that emerge from Government Digital Strategy and can be fulfilled locally."

More information can be found on the MICTA website at http://micta.im.  If you’re interested in learning more, please contact Tracy at tracy@micta.im or on 827030 for more details.
