Figures for the Island's labour market have been released showing that as at the end of January 2016 there were 873 people registered as unemployed.

This represents an increase of 12 people on the previous month.

However, compared to the same period last year, there has been a decrease of 100 persons on the unemployment register and these are the lowest January figure since 2012.

There were more men than women on the register - 607 compared to 266.

At the end of January there were 492 positions vacant at the Job Centre; of these 79% were full-time positions (388) and 21% part-time (104).
