MER substation refurb plans

Maughold makeover on track

The Department of Infrastructure has applied for planning permission to upgrade a substation serving the Manx Electric Railway.

The department’s Public Transport Division has applied to refurbish Belle Vue substation in Lewaigue in Maughold.

In its application, it says it wants to replace ageing equipment inside the building as well as make the site more secure.
