Wake up - Get a smoke detector

by isleofman.com 15th February 2016
Emergency services were called to a house fire in the early hours yesterday,  Sunday 14th February.

The fire had started in the lounge, producing significant heat and large amounts of smoke. Fortunately smoke detectors were fitted in the house and the occupiers were woken by the sounds of the alarms and were able to make a safe and speedy exit before contacting the emergency services.

The crew remained in attendance for over an hour whilst they ventilated the products of combustion, thoroughly checking the property for fire damage and establishing a cause of the blaze.

The Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service would like to remind people to be particularly careful when using candles and tea lights.
