Protests over 'unfair' fit-for-work tests

Demonstrators gather outside Keys

Around half a dozen demonstrators have gathered in Douglas to protest against the Island's capability assessments process.

The group assembled outside the Legislative building this morning (16 Feb) to lobby Tynwald members as they arrived for today's sitting.

They're opposed to tests carried out by government contractor Dependability Ltd.

Around 44 per cent of people who claimed incapacity benefits have been declared 'fit to work' by the company during 2015.

But protest leader Robert Farrer says the system is unfair on those with genuine conditions:
