The Rotary Club of Douglas (International Committee) is pleased to announce the launch of their next project “TINathon” which is aimed at helping children and refugee families from Syria and Middle Eastern Countries who are moving to the North West of England.
Supported by Shoprite (Victoria Road) and Quicksave (Chester Street), TINathon will be a month long campaign, between 22nd February and 20th March, aimed to encourage local house holders to donate tins of food to help those in need.
“The residents of the Isle of Man are known for their generosity and support,” said Bev Michelson, Chairman of the International Committee. “I hope everyone gets behind this great cause – any donation of tinned food will be greatly received. I’d like to thank the Douglas stores of Shoprite, particularly to Andrew Quilliam and Gillian Harvey, as they have been very helpful. We wouldn’t be able to do this wonderful project without them.”
Shoppers will be able to buy tins of food in either of the Douglas Shoprite stores whilst doing their shopping. There will be designated areas for tin donations once the items have been purchased. Shoprite will then store the food tins until the end of March when they will be transported to the UK and then onwards to a charity for individual distribution.
