Number of GPs

Following a question raised in this week's Tynwald sitting, by Onchan member Mr Hall, regarding the number of full and part time GPs on the Island, the following figures have been released by the Department of Health & Social Care.

The number of full-time GPs decreased from 43 in 2010 to 31 in 2015 whilst the number of part-time GPs has increased from 8 to 22.  Full-time is classifed as those that take 8 or more clinical sessions per week.

The number of patients rose from 86,476 in 2010 to 87,026 in 2015 with the average number of patients per practitioner remaining more or less then same going from 1,870 in 2010 to 1,871 in 2015.
