TT completion not an absolute deadline says minister

Work is expected to start on Laxey’s new bridge next month – after the design featuring two lighthouses was given planning permission.

The Department of Infrastructure says it hopes to have the new structure in place in time for TT week, although minister Phil Gawne has previously said that’s not an absolute deadline.

Workers from the department and a private contractor will lay reinforced concrete foundations before putting steel beams on top and putting a finished road surface down.

There’ll also be improvements to nearby Glen Road, Minorca Hill, and Breeze Hill.
