Valentine’s Day chocolate hearts raise ?2,300 for The Children’s Centre

by isleofman.com 19th February 2016
?2,300 was raised for The Children’s Centre last week when it took its Davison’s Chocolate Hearts out to local companies for decorating.

Pokerstars and Old Mutual led the way with their employees making a donation to The Children’s Centre in exchange for hearts for their loved ones, with ace cake and chocolate decorator Deborah Cubbon on hand to help finesse the icing messages.

“We were overwhelmed by the support,” says Lisa Motley from The Children’s Centre, “and thanks to Deborah, everyone who joined in had a professional looking heart to take home.”

The ‘chocolate for charity’ event has been going for a number of years, and all the money raised goes to The Children’s Centre’s Charitable Services.

And Lisa would like to thank everyone who was involved in the 2016 event: “We couldn’t have done it without Davisons, or without Deborah’s expert tuition,” she says, “but most of all I’d like to thank the employees of all those companies which allowed us into their offices with hearts, icing, cellophane and a lot of ribbon!”

“It’s sometimes difficult to imagine how The Children’s Centre uses the money raised on our behalf,” continues Lisa, “but the ?2,300 raised by the chocolate hearts this year could cover eleven ‘Action, Songs and Rhymes’ sessions which we offer free of charge to parents and children up to age 5, or it could be used to keep the Saturday Contact Centre open for five weeks.”

Anyone who’d like to know more about various Charitable Services offered by The Children’s Centre and how they could be involved should look at www.thechildrenscentre.org.im or just called Lisa on 01624 676076.
