Bag-snatcher fled empty-handed

Police are hunting a would-be bag snatcher who struck in the early hours of this morning.

A woman was walking along Peel Road in Douglas towards Belmont Terrace at 5am when someone tried to take her bag.

The incident happened between Pulrose Bridge and Belmont Hill but those behind the attempted robbery fled empty-handed on foot towards the Brown Bobby garage.

The woman was unharmed.

Officers say they’re keen to talk to anybody who saw anything suspicious in the area at the time – and in particular to a motorist who may was driving past at the time.

If you have any information, you can contact police on 631212.
