Ramsey school children support Ramsey RNLI

by isleofman.com 25th February 2016
Earlier this week Ramsey RNLI's Lifeboat Operations Manager, Mr Kevin Christian, was summoned to attend school assembly at Bunscoill Rhumsaa. However, he had no need to worry, the pupils simply wished to present Ramsey Lifeboat with a cheque for ?250.

They had raised money at the school's Christmas carol services. Following the cheque presentation, the pupils went on to watch the RNLI's video "Train One, Save Many". Mr Christian thanked the pupils and teachers for raising the money and explained that the video demonstrates how important fundraising efforts such as theirs are to the RNLI charity and its quest to end preventable loss of life at sea. He also mentioned that some of the girls and boys, when they were older, might one day train to become volunteer crew with the lifeboat, just like the ones in the video.

Mr Christian went on to present swimming certificates to several pupils. A group of pupils who had participated in Ramsey's New Year Chilly Dip then accepted, on behalf of their school, a cheque for ?694.60. The 2016 New Year Chilly Dip raised nearly ?1400 for the benefit of Ramsey RNLI and the pupils of Bunscoill Rhumsaa. The busy but enjoyable morning assembly then ended with a fine dancing display by year six pupils.
