Commitment call over new high school

No financial commitment yet to project

MHKs in the south of the Island are being urged to band together, to push for a new secondary school.

Last week's Manx budget saw £50,000 set aside for a feasibility study for replacement of Castle Rushen High School.

The news has been welcomed by Castletown MHK Richard Ronan and the member for neighbouring Malew and Santon, Graham Cregeen.

The scheme appears among capital projects in the Treasury's 'pink book' - which lists departmental spending - but there is no financial commitment yet to the project as a whole.

Mr Cregeen wants southern MHKs to push collectively for a much-needed new school:
