Ramsey unexploded device - situation ongoing

by isleofman.com 2nd March 2016

May be WW2 mortar

Parts of Ramsey remain cordoned off this evening (Wed 2nd) after the discovery of what's believed to be an unexploded device from World War Two.

Police closed the promenade between Premier Road by the Ramsey Park Hotel and the small terrace of houses at the bottom of the Grand Island hill this lunchtime and two properties remain evacuated.

It's thought the device may be an old mortar though that's not been confirmed.

Local experts have been in touch with the MOD in the UK and Inspector Derek Flint says they hope the situation can be sorted in the not too distant future.
