Self-caterers embrace tourism vision

Visitor numbers could stagnate unless action is taken

All involved in the Island's tourism industry must prepare to meet changing demand - if visitor numbers are to grow.

That view from the Island's Self-Catering Association, after the launch of a new four year strategy to promote the Island as a destination.

It's been drawn-up by tourism chiefs and a group of private sector tourism providers, who've been widely consulted.

The document analyses current trends and targets groups of people and types of holidays which could expand the sector.

Self-Catering Association chair Sara Richards is on the steering group.

She says the warning that visitor numbers could stagnate by 2020 unless swift action is taken must be taken seriously:
